Join OMA and ICA - Art Conservation for our Pre-Conference workshop in Akron!
While large museums often have onsite conservators, many museums, historical societies, and historic homes have little or no access to conservation services on a regular basis. This workshop is designed for you!
The workshop will begin with an overview of conservation and preservation basics for cultural heritage professionals. Then, attendees will get to chart their own path specific to their collections choosing from three of five mini-breakout sessions for 30 minutes each on specific topics including:
-
Care and handling of works on paper
-
Care and handling of textiles
-
Care and handling of paintings
-
Care and handling of objects (including plastics)
-
Educating your visitors about conservation and preservation.
The workshop will conclude with a community conversation about our region’s greatest needs in terms of conservation and preservation.
This session is perfect for those who work in collections care, or those who want to learn more about conservation and preservation.
