New for 2023 - OMA Conference Fellowships
The Ohio Museums Association is committed to connecting and empowering museum professionals at all stages of their career, and we recognize how important professional development events like conferences are in advancing careers. We also know not all museum professionals have professional development opportunities built into their personal or institutional budgets.
Through generous donations, OMA is very proud to offer conference fellowships to museum professionals, new for 2023. These fellowships are available to non-students, currently working or volunteering at an Ohio museum, or for professionals currently seeking a career in museums.

Fellowships include all Sunday and Monday conference activities and registration, along with a 2023 Individual Membership to the Ohio Museums Association.
Saturday tours and conference travel/sleeping rooms are not included in the fellowship, but can be purchased seperately. As part of the OMA Fellowship, each recipient is also responsible for writing one article for the OMA blog. This article is a way for our professional attendees to share their unique perspective of the OMA 2023 conference experience.
Each fellowship recipient must also serve on an OMA standing committee (Advoacy, DEAI, Fundraising and Development, Membership, Professional Development, or Partnership Development) for one year. These committees meet virtually throughout the year, typically once every 2-3 months, at the discretion of the committee chair.
To apply for an OMA 2023 Conference Fellowship:
Applicants must be currently working or volunteering at an Ohio museum, or professionals currently seeking a career in museums. Applicants must submit the following information as their application packet:
- Fellowship Application Form
- Current Resume (2 page limit)
- Essay (1000 words or less) addressing the following topics:
- How will your participation contribute to the rich, diverse discussions at the OMA Annual Conference?
- How will your participation at the conference contribute to your professional growth?
- How will you plan to share knowledge from the conference in your work?
