As museums integrate diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion (DEAI) as part of daily operations, it’s more important than ever to recognize our own implicit biases and areas of weakness.
Join Ryan Wynett, Manager of Implicit Bias Initiatives at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, as we dive into how these ideas and concepts align with the values of DEAI work, and how they can best be incorporated into the work of museum professionals across a variety of disciplines.
About our speaker:
Ryan Wynett has been with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center since 2014, and is currently the museum’s manager of implicit bias initiatives, including "OPEN YOUR MIND," an exhibit and interactive learning lab devoted to articulating the concept of the implicit bias to the general public. Prior to joining the Freedom Center, Ryan contributed to a pair of self-help books rooted in cognitive and evolutionary biology—YOU: Staying Young and YOU: Having A Baby—both of which made the New York Times best-seller list.
