During this webinar, you will hear from a panel of experts: Laurie Miller of COSI, Donna Harrison of the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, and Rachel Long of The Ohio State University. With diverse backgrounds on topics surrounding animal welfare, collection planning, creative staffing, and veterinary care, we’ll tackle these issues and so much more. Laurie Miller is the Senior Manager of Living Collections at COSI. Laurie has 20 years of experience working with wildlife, representing over 145 different species. She has had the privilege of managing the animal department at COSI for the past 10 years and is also a member of AZA’s Research and Technology Committee.
Donna Harrison is the Curator of Live Animals at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Donna has spent 35 years in the zoo field, working at both the Toledo Zoo and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. She specializes in management of all taxa, with an emphasis on small mammals and avian training. She has Bachelors of Science in Zoology from The Ohio State University, and Master of Science in Environmental Education from Nova Southwestern.
Rachel Long is a Zoo and Wildlife Medicine/Ecosystem Health Resident at The Ohio State University. Dr. Rachel Long is a zoo and wildlife veterinarian and has worked with animal collections at several zoos, museums, and wildlife centers. She currently provides veterinary care to the animal collection at COSI in addition to working with Ohio State, The Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, and The Wilds.
