Emerging Museum Professionals: Facilitating Meaningful Communication

Connect with Emerging Museum Professionals (EMP) from across the state in this open dialogue between institutions and EMPs. 

Discussion will focus on several topics that act as barriers or concerns to full integration of EMPs into the museum field: intergenerational communication, state of the field, the shifting economy, and organizing efforts.

This workshop will hone in on strategies EMPs can use to effectively communicate and connect with institutional leadership and help them emerge as confident and effective professionals. Participants will also learn how to get involved with their local chapters (or start their own).

Institutions will benefit from this workshop as well, learning key strategies of intergenerational and intercultural communication. Speakers will also highlight key demographic and economic shifts from the last couple decades, allowing greater empathy and understanding of EMP situations and lifestyles.

This workshop will discuss strategies to support EMPs on any institutional budget, being sure to highlight free ways to support the EMP community in addition to strategies such as increased pay.
